Grading
- Grading in the Studio is Standards-Based.
- The standards break down, loosely, as follows: Technique, Design, Symbolism, History/Context, Critique, and Interdisciplinary.
- Most projects will be graded on SEVERAL of the standards, so students will have multiple opportunities for success.
- A rubric, defining grading criteria, will be given with every project.
- All grading is handled on a 10-Point scale.
- The lowest grade given for ATTEMPTED work is a 6 out of 10.
- Work that is NOT TURNED IN will receive a ZERO (0) in all graded standards.
- LATE work will receive a ZERO (0) in the Interdisciplinary (deadline) standard. INCOMPLETE work will receive a 6 out of 10.
- Students have the same number of days MISSED to turn in MAKE UP WORK without a LATE penalty.
- Work will be accepted until the end of the marking term, but penalized as LATE if turned in after a deadline.
- Work from other marking terms WILL NOT be accepted WITHOUT administrative approval.
- STUDIO PRACTICE points are given on a daily basis in the Interdisciplinary standard. These represent the student being "present" and engaged with the goals and practices of the Studio. They are an excellent indicator of day to day work.
